Frequently Asked Vehicle Donation Questions
_1.) What can I donate?
All vehicles, boats, motorcycles, jet-skis, buses, snowmobiles, and ATV's can be donated. If you have another vehicle not listed please contact us.
2.) How much of a tax deduction will I receive for my donated vehicle?
The IRS will allow you to claim a tax deduction of: a) the value of your vehicle up $500.00 or b.) the amount we sell your vehicle for if exceeds $500.00. Cars For Help is an IRS 501(c)3 charity organization.
3.) My vehicle does not run or has mechanical problems. Can I still donate my car?
YES! We accept vehicle donations regardless of condition.
4.) Will my car be junked or stripped for parts?
This depends on the condition and value of the vehicle donated. Regardless, your donation will have helped individuals in need!
5.) Am I still liable for my car after it is donated?
You are responsible for the vehicle up to the time we pick it up. From the time of pick up we take responsibility. You are liable for any prior fines or penalties that occurred prior to pickup.
6.) Do I have to be home when the vehicle is picked up?
You do not have to be home. The vehicle should be cleared of any personal belongings and leave the keys and title in the glove compartment.
7.) Will I get a receipt at the time of pick up?
You will receive an email receipt from Cars For Help within 3 business days.
8.) What if I don't have my title?

9.) How do I correctly sign my title?
Please print and sign your name in the "Seller" section of the title. Be sure that you sign exactly as your name appears on the face of the title.
10.) Will I incur any expenses in the transaction?
There are no charges.
11.) How long will it take before my car is picked up?
The average time for pickup is 1-3 business days from the time you contact us.
12.) What states and areas do you service?
We operate and are able to accept donations in any state across the country.
13.) Who will pick up my car?
Cars For Help uses different agencies depending on the location of the vehicle. In all cases, you will be contacted to arrange a convenient pickup time suitable for you.
14.) Someone passed away, can I still donate the car?
The car can be donated as long as you can provide a copy of the death certificate documentation and show that you are the inheritor of the deceased's vehicle.
